LYF: Sundays are for Self-Care

How is your Sunday looking? Hopefully your Sunday morning was easy like the Commodores’ song. Sundays should be a time to relax, reflect, and to prepare for the new week ahead of you. Most people view Sundays as an end to their weekend and a time to dread the next day. If this is you, take a moment to refocus, and think of ways to include more of what makes you happy. Sundays should be for self-care. Loving yourself means you should always dedicate time to taking care of you.

Self-care doesn’t necessarily mean heading to the spa to get a massage or spending all day soaking in a bubble bath (although it can be, and if that’s your thing, absolutely do your thing)

Take a moment to express gratitude

Taking time to reflect on what you have to be thankful for can be an immediate boost to your spirit. It allows you to focus your mind on something positive in your life.

Do something that makes you feel good

Maybe you don’t have the means to go to the spa for a massage, or maybe not the time to spend luxuriating in a bubble bath all day. Can you listen to your favorite music? Maybe listen to your favorite podcast, or find a new podcast. Maybe all it takes is a fresh coat of paint on your nails to do the trick. Do something, no matter how big or small, that makes your insides smile.

Take care of your body

This is important everyday, but let Sundays be a day where you make it a little more special. You should be drinking water everyday, but maybe on Sunday, your water can be less boring with the help of a cute water bottle or the addition pretty fruits.

Goes without saying that eating well is important all week long, but sometimes the week goes by and we unfortunately don’t take the best care when it comes to eating. Lat Sunday be a day of balance, a day to get in at least 3 healthy meals.

Whether you enjoy exercise or not, proper self-care includes getting at least a moderate amount of exercise. Maybe going to the gym or doing yoga isn’t exactly your thing, and that’s fine. There are plenty of alternatives to get you moving, and that’s all you need. If treadmills bore you to tears, try dancing. If you feel uncomfortable moving to music, try a quiet walk. Stretch. Cleaning your house can even count as exercise, bonus points for taking care to clean your space.
